Chongqing Jiaotong University Holds Pre-departure Meeting for the Visiting Scholars' Delegation to Polytechnic University of Milan

On Feb 27, the Pre-departure Meeting for the Visiting Scholars’ Delegation to Polytechnic University of Milan was successfully held in Chongqing Jiaotong University. Gong Hui, Chairman of Chongqing Jiaotong University Board, Vice President Huang Chengfeng, heads of the International Office, Personnel Office, Organization Department, Teaching Affairs Office, and relevant secondary schools, as well as 20 scholars attended the meeting. Fabio Schina, Consul General of the Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing, Giuseppe Lagana, Head of the Commercial Office, the Assistant Zhang Zheng and Education Officer Zhang Ying from the Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing also came to the university to attend the pre-departure meeting. The meeting was presided over by Vice President Huang Chengfeng.

Mao Mingyong, Director of the International Office, introduced Chongqing Jiaotong University and the overview of international cooperation and exchanges of the university from the aspects of history, disciplines, majors, and technological innovation, especially the recent cooperation and exchanges with Italian universities. Wu Xinzhong, Director of the Personnel Office, introduced the delegation from the background, personnel composition, and learning arrangements, and put forward specific hopes and requirements for the scholars.


On behalf of the scholars in the delegation, Prof. Yang Jun, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Mountain Bridge and Tunnel Engineering, noted that he would live up to the school’s trust, cherish the opportunity, build up confidence, complete the mission of the visit in quality and quantity, and make new and greater contributions to promoting various undertakings of the university.


Fabio Schina, Consul General of the Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing, extended his warm welcome to the 20 visiting scholars in the delegation, and looked forward to Chongqing Jiaotong University continuing to deepen exchanges and cooperation with Italian universities in various fields.

Gong Hui, Chairman of Chongqing Jiaotong University Board, expressed the hope that at Polytechnic University of Milan, all scholars will cherish the learning opportunity, make study plans carefully, clarify learning objectives, actively participate in various academic and practical activities, take the initiative to interact with international first-class scholars, and jointly explore the academic frontier. Chairman Gong highlighted that scholars should carefully observe and learn advanced teaching methods and educational concepts, purposefully absorb and apply the knowledge they have learned, and contribute to the teaching reform and development of the university. “I hope that while you are learning knowledge and enhancing your abilities, you will introduce the excellent traditional Chinese culture and the distinctive advantages of Chongqing Jiaotong University to the teachers and students of Polytechnic University of Milan, promote cooperation and exchanges between the two universities, and facilitate mutual learning in Chinese and Italian cultural exchanges.”


After the speech, Chairman Gong awarded the flag for the delegation and wished the scholars a pleasant and fulfilling study as well as a peaceful and healthy life in Italy.

Prior to the pre-departure meeting, Chairman Gong, Vice President Huang Chengfeng, met with Consul General Fabio Schina and his delegation, accompanied by the directors of the Party and Government Affairs Office, the International Office, and the Personnel Office in the Conference Room 206 of the Mingde Building. Gong welcomed Consul General Fabio Schina’s visit to the university and attending the pre-departure meeting of visiting scholars, and appreciated the Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing for supporting the cooperation and exchanges between the university and Italian universities, especially for the care and full support for the 20 scholars in the delegation. Before the pre-departure meeting, Consul General Fabio Schina and his delegation visited the Art Design School.
